Project
details:
- Establishment
of a primary care centre:
A
primary health care centre has being established and is open
six days a week. It serves a population of about 8000 women
and children. Free treatment and medicines are provided. Pre
and Postnatal care is done. A doctor and a paid lady health
visitor LHV are present at the centre. Girls from the community
have been identified and trained as community health workers
CHW. They assist the LHV and help in translation from Baluchi
to Urdu.
- Immunisation
programme:
Four
community volunteers have been trained as vaccinators. They
have now been employed as vaccinators at the health care centre.
These four girls of the community along with the LHV carry
on an ongoing program of educating the mothers on the importance
of preventive health care. This is also an outreach program.
The LHV and the vaccinators go to houses in the Goth to identify
and immunise those children who are not vaccinated.
- School
visits: The LHV and the CHW visit the schools on a regular
basis for educating the children on hygiene and nutrition. Check-ups
of the students and follow-up treatments are an important part
of this programme.
- Home
visits: Visits to the homes in the village by the LHV for
creating greater health awareness and preventive health care is
done on regular basis. The LHV also educates the mother on prenatal
and postnatal care.
- Health
Education: Mass health education campaigns are held on a regular
basis making the people are of various unhealthy habits for eg.
Effects of eating Paan , tobacco Supari gootka , Health of the
women, and recycling of garbage etc.
